Dame Janet Primary Academy wanted to create an ICT suite with a difference. Their existing space was outdated, uninviting and just plain boring! They wanted a space that looked great, was flexible and could meet the school’s requirements moving forward. So NCS Technology undertook an ICT Suite Refurbishment their behalf.
NCS Technology project managed the entire room transformation, which included a full strip out, installation of new electrics, plumbing, painting and decoration during the summer break.
Space was maximised by repositioning the existing data cabinet outside of the room. A contemporary, raised seating area was constructed and a new 75” Clevertouch interactive screen was installed. A bespoke cabinet was created to house, protect and charge the school’s existing laptops and iPads.
LED flat panels replaced the old ceiling lights and were fitted with Dali dimming to enable teachers to create different moods depending on a lesson’s theme.
Every aspect of the space was considered to enhance learning opportunities – one wall was even turned into a green screen to make the space suitable for creating films and animations.
The new ICT suite means that Dame Janet Primary Academy now boasts a variety of learning settings for all members of staff to utilise to enhance pupils’ learning experiences.
Teachers now have an exciting, adaptable space to experiment with pedagogy, making learning more fun and interesting.
The aesthetic and feel of the suite is different from a traditional classroom and provides a higher degree of collaboration between teachers and pupils through an IT rich environment. The interactive space means that young people can acquire the skills they need to thrive in the future.
In addition to enhanced pupil engagement and learning opportunities, the versatility of the space means it can also be used outside of teaching hours for staff training and rental by external groups.
