Kent County Agricultural Society (KCAS) asked NCS Technology to supply and install of over 3,500m of fibre optic cable to the Showground’s seven entrance gates for their new automated ticketing system, all in time for the upcoming Kent County Show. As a charity, KCAS required a solution that was cost effective and future-proof.
NCS Technology successfully managed the project, on-time and on-budget across the vast Showground estate. The new fibre links consisted of 8 core OM4 and loose tube corrugated steel-taped multi-mode fibre. At each gate, NCS installed an IP66-rated lockable metal, acrylic coated enclosure to accommodate the HP switch, wall fibre box and power socket. The gate positions were cabled back to the main server cabinet located in Alan Day House and connected into a new HP switch, with the combined goal to introduce an automated ticket entry system via a 1GB fibre backbone across the site.
The project was completed ahead of schedule, which meant that the new ticket system had already been implemented successfully at a number of Showground events prior to the main show.
