The Brief / challenge
Following on from successful lighting projects at Hoo and Strood leisure centres in Medway in 2015, NCS Technology and, UK lighting manufacturer, Earlsmann, successfully bid for the contract to undertake a major LED lighting upgrade at Medway Park.
Medway Park is a regional centre of sporting excellence which stages national and international events as well as catering for more than 2,000 customers per day. The project included replacing the lighting in the sports hall, squash courts and swimming pools.
The solution needed to increase lighting levels to create the right conditions for playing sport, whilst also reducing energy levels and costs. The lighting schemes, managed and overseen by Medway Council’s Strategic Property team, are part of the Council’s wider programme of energy-saving initiatives, working in collaboration with local SMEs like NCS Technology.
