Given that NCS have over 30 years’ experience in delivering networking solutions to education settings it makes sense that we also strive to recognise and nurture talent within our own company.
Wendy Stephens, who is one of our Directors, is a perfect example of how working at NCS has provided the opportunity for her to progress upwards through the business. In 2007, Wendy decided that she wanted a career change and heard that NCS were looking for a receptionist. So, she applied and got an interview. During her interview, it was noticed that Wendy would actually be suited to a different role and they offered her the position of Quote Administrator. The job was to proofread and sense check quotations before they were sent to customers and to carry out follow-up calls to check if the customer was happy with the quote.
As Wendy got to know NCS more, her role began to expand. She set up and ran our CRM system which is now one of the core parts of our business and started helping in other departments, learning different roles and processes. At this point it became apparent that she was beginning to oversee the day to day running of the systems that are essential to keeping the business running, so she was promoted to Office Supervisor.
Her passion for numbers and reputation for being a stickler for getting jobs done properly led her to a job in the Accounts Team, which allowed her to complete her Level 2 and 3 AAT qualifications before being promoted to Accounts Manager. Following a Leadership and Management Course, Wendy is now a Director.
Wendy’s story is a perfect example of the ethos that NCS is so proud of. By investing in our team and recognising their unique skills and talents, we have been able to grow the business further. Recently we’ve employed multiple new staff members and have added a number of new vans to our fleet (so keep an eye out for them).
We’re also proud of the hard work and dedication of our team who have been hard at work this winter fitting new led lighting systems to The Woolwich Centre. This project will not only dramatically reduce Royal Greenwich Council’s energy consumption but will also reduce their CO2 output by 400 tons per year.
With NCS now added to the LASER Framework (Y19018) the KCS AudioVisual Framework (Y20003), KCS CCTV and Access Solutions framework (Y21004) and the Oasis Community Learning ICT procurement framework (data cabling) we can’t wait to encourage and nurture more NCS team members in their career progression.
